…​.. ​God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.
2. Timothy 2, 25+26

We should fight for our brothers and sisters who have gone into the net of the devil, so that God can give them knowledge and wisdom and they can be set free!
Lately, many brothers and sisters are turning to some kind of sects. How is that possible? They have been in faith for years and know their way around. How did they fall? And how do we react to this?
Sects really do catch their members. Through skilful psychological tricks they are deprived of their freedom, they remain loyal followers and workers and think they are the elite. They do not want to leave. They have become blind. They are important in the sect and are a role model. There, among these people, they feel comfortable and recognized.
One reason is certainly the situation in the Christian communities, which is not always very satisfactory; – people are hungry for more! They are not satisfied in the churches!
On top of this, there is perhaps personal dissatisfaction with their own life of faith. And then, when a great “prophet” or evangelist comes, they succumb to his promises. Maybe they want to experience more miracles and the gurus promise to do so and tell what has already happened to them. Disappointments with the pastor can also play a role.
Paul advises Timothy to pray intensely for these people, so that they may recognize the truth and come to their senses; – this is the grace of God. I do not believe that God gives His children in any sects lost forever. At some point He will bring His children back. Therefore we may pray with confidence and trust: Lord, open their eyes!
We Christians are responsible for each other. Therefore we should take care of each other and pray for each other, intensely.
We should say much more clearly in the churches what sects are. We should define ourselves more clearly and not allow any grey areas. False compromises and tolerance always cause problems later on.
There is the gift of discernment of spirits; – what is behind it? We should train them more, listen to these gift bearers more, and not ignore their warnings!

Thank ​Y​ou Jesus, ​Y​ou do not let your children be lost forever. No, You go after them and want to bring them back home. Thank ​Y​ou for taking care of them! LORD, I think of my brothers and sisters, free them, expose the lie, open their eyes! And help me never to condemn anyone but to respect and be there for them.
