Liberated by the Lord – 2017.01.20

And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
Isaiah 35,10 and 51,11
A verse of such importance that it appears twice in the book written by Isaiah!
Both deal with the liberation of God’s people.  One day we will be freed by Him when He comes to take us to Him.  Then will be everlasting joy, song and praise; sorrow and sighing shall flee.  Hard to imagine!  But what a relief, what a weight from our hearts!
There is no need to lose hope:  He is definitely coming!  When Israel suffered in Egypt, God sent Moses to liberate His people.  When we suffer, God’s Spirit comes to set us free, revive us, so that we may sing again! When the persecutions become too hard to bear, Jesus Himself comes and has mercy on His people.  He comes as Conqueror, King and Ruler.
Until His return, we have His promise and His presence.  At the moment we are able to see vague images of what is to come.  Our deliverance is  not yet complete, but we are allowed a taste of the perfection that is to come.
This day was not easy, but now night has fallen;- everyone is sleeping and I am reading God’s Word.  His promises invigorate, give renewed strength and comfort.  All worries, sorrows and sighing flee, when He lives in our hearts. Song, gladness and joy take over.  That is the work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts.  When we open ourselves to Him, and make time for Him, His Word becomes truth:  sorrow flees, and joy remains.
Thank You Jesus, for making Your Word come true!  Thank You for liberating me from sorrow and sighing, worries and fears when I am in Your presence.  You are the Lord. Your Word is final!!
