Like a Father – 2016.10.24

Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits ….
As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
Psalm 103:1-2&13

Being fearful of the Lord means to be cautious about the evil, fearing the sin because sinning would mean to lose contact with God.
The fear of the Lord is awe before the almighty, all-knowing, eternal, all-holy, the judge, the creator, and the preserver. This is whom we bow to and pray to.
This awe should not be confused with fear. When we have community with Him all fear is gone. Only sinners have to be fearful of Gods judgment, because those that are made just by Jesus are not judged. He wants free and joyful children!
He is a loving father who takes care of His children. Continually He wants to give presents to His children, to look at it and touch it. He is happy when the children are happy and sad when the children are sad. He is full of joy when He watches His children celebrating His gifts and surprises.
Our God is good and merciful! He is like a Father to us. He thinks about everything. He takes care about everything for us. We should trust Him much more! And we should open our heart for Him much more! We should drink from His mercy and feast off His love. We should expect His intervention and trust upon Him all our small and large problems. Who is a God like Him? Someone who throws our sins in the deepest ocean, with a sign that says ‘Fishing forbidden’?
We can read in the gospels about how much God loves us. Jesus, the picture of God, and God are one. And the way Jesus acts, God acts. Like Jesus speaks, God speaks. With Jesus as an example we can learn the way God is.
The way Jesus acts around children is amazing to me. They are so precious to Him! He is so careful around them! How He shelters them and makes them happy using music and laughter! Like that He wants to be with us. Do we let Him?
And than we can sing: praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name!
Thank You Jesus, for You reveals the Father! Full of love, mercy, friendliness, and patience is our heavenly Father. He forgives our sins when others would judge. He forgets when others would accuse. He loves us when others turn away. O, what a wonderful father!
