Lived in vain  –  2019.12.04

But God said to him:
You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you.
Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?
Luke 12:20

Someone in the crowd around Jesus had asked Him for His opinion on an inheritance dispute. Jesus replied: Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions. And He told them the well known parable: A rich farmer had a good harvest. He thought about what he should do with it. He decided to build bigger barns for his surplus grain to ensure a happy retirement. Now he can rest, take life easy, eat, drink and be merry. But, as mentioned in above Bible verse, God had had different plan…
I once knew a man, a fine, reliable person, who had given everything to build up a prosperous company. He did that for his family. His wife did not need to work, his children got a good education. They lived in a wonderful house. But one day I met him totally devastated. He had discovered that his wife has cheated him for years with a lover. Now he realized that also his children did not give the necessary respect to him. He was desperate: What he has worked for, had invested all his strength?
The same happens to us Christians when we lose sight of God. no matter how hardworking we are. You missed the goal! And Jesus will finally say to us: I do not know you!
In heaven my whole life will pass me like a movie, all spoken words, thoughts, emotions. Thanks to Jesus, my Intercessor, all the evil parts of life will have been cut away. But is there anything left when all my work without Jesus, my own efforts, all kind of worries,  is wiped out and forgotten? Yes, all hours will remain which you spent with Jesus, when you did your daily work with His love, in His strength, when you did the dishes for instance. Therefore do not lose sight of Jesus, your Savior and source of all doing. Otherwise you live in vain!

Yes, Jesus, this day belongs to You! Everything I want to discuss with You that all my doing honors You. For you alone I live and work. Thank You that You are with me!
