The great day – 2016.08.18

The LORD roars from Zion,
from Jerusalem raises his voice,
the heavens and the earth quake,
but the Lord will be a shelter for his people,
a fortress for the people of Israel.
Joel 4, 16
The prophet Joel writes very clearly about the return of Jesus. He came once as a child into the world and He will come again as a mighty king at the end of times. He will restore order to the ideas of God and stop the injustice, the killing and raving of the wicked.
His voice is powerful, powerful like the loudest thunder. It goes around the earth. Heaven and earth tremble with fear, and the people. But for His people this roar and rumble of Jesus is music to their ears, because they know their Lord comes to free them.
In television and movies, Christians are often depicted as weak, stupid people. They come into trouble because of their stupidity and some a hero such as Superman must save them; – They themselves cannot and Jesus seems far, far away. This image, which is mediated in movies and talk shows, is certainly wrong or applies only to Christians who live their ideas and laws rigid and conservatively, but have no connection to the living Lord. But is that all that Christians are?
The Bible and the history of Christians show a different picture: Through the Holy Spirit, Christians are courageous. They are a happy people, even in persecution. Opponents have power over their lives, but they have power over death. Defeat by their faith in the kingdom of God. Because God himself is with them.
Thus the voice of Jesus is for God’s children music to the ears: you are now saved! – And for the wrongdoers and those who oppose Jesus, Jesus’ voice triggers fear and terror.
He comes to save His people and to take them to Him. He is the king who does not lose an single child, because he has everything in His sight. Not one will be forgotten or abandoned, He gathers them all.
The power of faith really moves mountains; – God responds to our prayers! His presence is powerful and palpable. Healings are done, little people are bold, the one will dream dreams, others hear the words of God. He rules within His people, He is their God and they are His beloved people.
We need not fear the last times, because He is there. The disasters are the roar of the Lord, for Him the justice and for us to save. He looks after His children!
Thank you, Jesus, you’re not an innocent, weak, helpless lamb. You are the King of Kings. All the angelic host listen to Your word. You’ll never leave or forget me, for I am your child.
