An undeviatingly faithful God – 2016.06.03

He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
Deuteronomy 32, 4

This is a verse from the “Song of Moses”. It was written by Moses toward the end of his life and contains the lessons he learnt during the course of his life.  He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
Moses and God experienced much trouble with the stubborn, rebellious people. But God remained faithful. He had chosen the people, and He stuck with that: These are My people!
The people committed every kind of foolishness and did not reciprocate God’s love, and yet God had mercy over and over again. In every difficulty, God proved Himself to be the rock. His road with Israel was perfect and good. Only Israel wanted to choose its own path and walk this path alone. The fact that His beloved people turned away from Him was very painful for God, the Father and Creator. But still God sticks with His people and saves everyone who turns to Him. He cannot simply forget and destroy this rebellious nation, as so many others were.
We as Christians may learn: God is our Rock. He is faithful.
We also make so many mistakes, fooleries even. The nation of Christians has become fat and sated, sitting comfortably on the sofa; – matters of God are of no particular interest. They scrape together the energy for worship and conferences, but other than that they just want their peace. They have established themselves nicely and comfortably here on earth; – please do not disturb them.
But God wants to reawaken His people. He wants His people to search His heart again. He says: your worries shall be my worries, and my burden for the lost shall be your burden. God and His people are to be one heart and one soul again. God’s affairs should become our heart’s desires again! Then He will turn back to His people and bless them greatly. His presence will be palpable among His people.

Forgive, Father in Heaven! You are so faithful. But I go my own way. I accept Your blessing gladly, but I do not want to do Your will. Forgive! I want to search for Your countenance and recognize Your heart. You shall be my God, and nothing shall come between us! Thank You for Your patience and mercy! Thank You for Your faithfulness!
