Comfort and trust  –  2020.04.24

The Lord says:
I, even I, am he who comforts you.  Who are you that you fear mere mortals, human beings who are but grass, that you forget the Lord, your Maker?
Isaiah 51, 11f

Nothing could make the LORD Jesus more upset than small faith and unbelief. Then He could speak very serious words with His disciples.
What about us? Do we trust Jesus fully? Or do we let fear rise up in us and win? Does panic rule us? Let’s hope not.
For has He not made heaven and earth? Does He not send sun and rain? Is He not the LORD of volcanoes, tornadoes, earthquakes and locusts? Did not He part the Red Sea so that His people could walk through it dry? – HE has all the power. HE always speaks the last word. HE is the LORD.
And why are we so often afraid? Because we’re not sure if He really does what He promises. We’ve trusted more than once and things haven’t gone so smoothly. That’s where you get cautious. Many times we have prayed for something and God has not heard us as we wanted Him to. We quickly lose faith.
This small faith or lack of faith comes from our relationship with God. We face Him, He is a counterpart. But He desires a togetherness, even an intimacy. HE wants to dwell in the heart, and be in it constantly. HE does not want to be visited only on Sundays or to be approached only at set times of prayer. There is a huge difference: a counterpart, or a God who lives in us.
If He lives in us, He can comfort and encourage us continuously.. He can continually shower us with His blessings, joy, peace, tranquility, courage, comfort, all of which He can release when it is necessary.
Yes, God is present, very close, even within us! This is true gospel that sets us free from fear and despair. Hallelujah!

Thank You Jesus, You live in me. You are taking over my whole heart and transforming it so that it pleases You and reflects Your nature. You let faith grow in me. You comfort me when I am afraid or lonely. You are there, my mighty Saviour!
