God`s Yes — 2016.02.22

For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, … was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes.” For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ.
2 Corinthians 1:19-20

A friend of mine is from a very polite country. He told me, when they say yes they mean maybe, when they say maybe they mean no, and when they say no they are from another country. He said it very kindly, but we have a big problem when we can’t trust the word someone is using! Much is promised and lied until they got what they want! Often they change their mind a few days later and stand the others up! Often one spouse had enough after years of marriage, even if it was the one love for them! And we ourselves are not better – our yes doesn’t always remain a yes and our no can change to a yes as well.
That is the reason we are all distrustful, we don’t even trust God. For us it’s hard to trust someone, we like to do everything by ourselves.
Often we have old injuries because someone loved suddenly rejected us. Those that we love the most can hurt us the deepest. So we become more cautious with new friendships and keep this relationship more superficial. We are even cautious with God.
So Paul speaks clearly to us: Gods yes is a yes! God doesn’t lie! We Christians shouldn’t lie as well, even if it costs us a lot to be true to our word.
When I became a christian God spoke to me: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine."
Whenever I failed I always felt guilty and I thought God would surely abandon me. That is what others do, but God reminded me of this verse: "you are mine!" And He said: “I know you before you where born and I know you would fail at this point. And still I called your name because you are mine! I want you and nothing will change this. Nothing you do will change that I will always love you. You are my child and you will remain so."
Thank You, Jesus, for Your faithfulness! There would be enough reasons to turn away from me, but you still hold me. Your yes is an eternal yes that will never change. I can depend on that! Thank You, for the hope and the future You have in store for me.
