But the Lord is the one who is marching before you! He is the one who will be with you! He won’t let you down. He won’t abandon you. So don’t be afraid or scared!
Deuteronomy 31:8
Moses blesses Joshua with these words; they are the words of God to Joshua. Who has a great task ahead: Occupying the Promised Land. He shall occupy this wonderful, but heavily fortified land with his desert hikers; – And all this without Moses, the spiritual father of Joshua.
Joshua does not have much conidence in his own ability, otherwise God would not need to say those words. Who is he, the small, weak Joshua?
God knows the concerns of Joshua; He knows Joshua is just a small man and the task is enormous. He knows Joshua’s fear of failure and his fear of the enemy.
That’s why He tells him again: I am marching before you, I am with you! Yes, what can go wrong? Also this morning, God says it to us: I am with you and walk in front of you into the day!How many people have doubts that God is not pleased with them. They want to show power, good will, good deeds. But God does not look at it, but on their heart. Whether it only beats for Him. Whether we want to belong completely to God. He is a father who has mercy on His children.
Is there anything that wants to scare us today? Then we become discouraged, cranky and lose hope. Therefore God says this morning: Do not be afraid or scared! For I am with you.
So we want to go confidently and courageously into the day. We want to sing praises to our mighty God in the morning who takes pity on us. We know that He is with us!
Thank Heavenly Father, you never let Your child out of sight! You are with me and never leave me. With You I need not be afraid and do not have to be afraid of this new day. In Your love I am safe all day. How wonderful is it that You’re here! I cannot even always grasp it.
